Will you become my doctor?
No, I use my medical background to help you understand the technical details and situation you or your family member is experiencing, but I will not be functioning as a doctor. I will give you more information to enable you to make your own decisions. I will not be ordering tests or prescribing medications.
Can you talk to my doctors?
Yes. If you or your family member gives me permission to speak to your doctors, I can and will talk to them to get a better understanding of the situation and then explain it to you.
Are you a concierge doctor?
No, I only give information to you or your family member to help everyone understand what is occurring in the present situation. I do not order tests, prescribe medications or make diagnosis.
What areas of medicine do you cover?
Given my background in Internal Medicine with a Cardiology subspecialty, I cover all areas of medicine except Pediatrics, OB/GYN and mental health. Without specific experience in these specialties, I believe you would be better served elsewhere.
How does this work?
It works very similar to an office visit. You or your family member tells me what is going on to the best of your knowledge. I will ask questions to help me clarify the situation. Then, I will explain, in everyday language, what is occurring and answer your questions. Sometimes, I may need to obtain more information, but we will discuss this when it’s necessary.
Is this covered by insurance?
No, this is not covered by medical insurance.
What if this takes longer than 20 minutes?
I will always be mindful of your time and have 20+ years of experience getting patients in and out in 20 minutes. I am confident I’ll be able to do that with you as well, but can also be available for longer discussions if that’s what you need to feel comfortable. Some situations will also evolve over time and may require additional consultations. I keep it to the minimum amount of time needed to achieve the ultimate goal of giving you a confident understanding of the situation.
Can I ask you questions about my insurance or Medicare?
This has never been my area of expertise and I don’t feel that I am the best one to answer these questions.
